Scene Study Masterclass
from 9th to 11th October 2026 with Giles Foreman & Liana Nyquist
We are excited to welcome Giles Foreman back to drehübung wien – this time together with internationally renowned movement specialist and acting coach Liana Nyquist.
In this Scene Study Madterclass, Liana Nyquist and Giles Foreman recreate the collaborative working methodology they use when coaching actors for film and television. Working directly on scenes, they combine detailed exploration of text, character and psychological action with Movement Psychology and the physical embodiment of the role. The process takes actors beyond intellectual analysis, allowing character to emerge organically through impulse, rhythm, movement, imagination and relationship — bringing psychological and physical life together in truthful, specific performance.
Liana Nyquist has worked extensively alongside Giles Foreman as an acting and movement coach, collaborating with actors in preparation for major film and television productions. Their work combines Foreman's detailed approach to character, psychology and text with Nyquist's expertise in Movement Psychology and the physical embodiment of character. Together, they help actors explore the deeper psychological and physical architecture of a role — developing character through objectives, inner life, rhythm, movement, gesture and transformation. Their collaborative coaching is particularly valuable for demanding screen roles, where psychological precision must be translated into subtle, truthful and highly specific physical behaviour. Over the years, Nyquist and Foreman have worked individually and together with actors appearing in a wide range of international film and television productions, providing intensive character preparation from the early stages of research and rehearsal through to shooting.
